Updated at 507 AM CST SAT DEC 27 2025 - Above-normal temperatures are expected this weekend, with highs running 15-20 degrees above average, and lows running 15 degrees above average. - A front is currently forecast to sweep across the region on Monday, swinging temperatures back to below normal to start next week. Rain chances will be high. && .DISCUSSION... (Saturday through next Friday) Issued at 1147 PM CST FRI DEC 26 2025 A rather mild night is expected with a weak shortwave passing through the region and an associated east to west oriented front stalled across the Tennessee Valley acting to produce cloudy skies across the area. These clouds in addition to a light southwesterly breeze should help to prevent widespread dense fog, but current surface obs are showing some lowered visibility out there, so patchy fog will still be possible this morning. Not sure at the moment if it will necessitate another Dense Fog Advisory, but we'll keep an eye on the trends. Expect the mostly cloudy conditions and unseasonable warmth to continue through the weekend until a strong cold front arrives on Sunday night. Rain should pass through the area rather quickly Monday morning with rain amounts of about 0.25" or less. Far from drought-busting. Severe weather is not expected due to dry, warm mid- level air which will help to stabilize the airmass. By Monday night, temperatures will be down into the 20s area-wide and we'll have a chilly Tuesday with highs ranging from the upper 30s north to mid 40s south. Northwesterly flow will become more zonal by Thursday as low-level ridging builds back over the area. This will cause a gradual warming trend, but temperatures will still remain below normal during that time. 86/Martin && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 507 AM CST SAT DEC 27 2025 Low clouds and reduced VIS will once again linger for most of this TAF period, with LIFR/IFR conditions expected through 27/16z. Past then, conditions are expected to improve into MVFR category, before dropping once more past 28/06z. Here, widespread IFR/LIFR CIGs are likely into the next TAF period. /44/ && .FIRE WEATHER... An overall rain-free forecast is expected to continue through the weekend with persisting drought conditions. MinRH values will remain well above critical thresholds for the next couple of days, and 20ft winds will be southwesterly around 5 to 8 kts. A cold front will bring increasing rain chances Sunday night into Monday, but rain amounts look to be less than 0.25". The frontal passage will cause a breezy wind on Monday with a shift to the northwest. Dry air will filter in behind the front and RH will fall into the 30-40% range on Tuesday afternoon. && .CLIMATE...
