Issued at 326 PM CST Sun Dec 28 2025 Falling snow will continue to wind down over the next hour or two in portions of western Iowa and extreme southeastern Nebraska. Radar is still showing some faint returns of blowing snow across portions of the CWA, so we are keeping the Winter Weather Advisories going for a few more hours. Knox, Antelope, Boone, Pierce, Madison, and Platte counties were removed from the advisories due to conditions improving. Gusty northwest winds will persist through the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening, so a Wind Advisory will remain in place through 6pm. Heading into tonight, expect bitter cold to set in as temperatures fall into the single digits to around 12 degrees above zero. With the cold temperatures and windy conditions, wind chills will fall to around 7 to 17 below zero. Expect the cold and wind to continue into Monday as today's system shifts east over the Great Lakes. A tight pressure gradient will remain in place through the morning, keeping sustained northwest winds around 15-25mph with gusts to 35mph before easing back in the afternoon. The cold will remain in place through the day, with highs struggling into the teens and 20s. Monday night into Tuesday, an upper ridge over the western CONUS will slide east slightly, allowing for some warmer air to advect into the region. Tuesday lows will be slightly warmer than the previous night, bottoming out in the teens. The current forecast has highs returning to the mid-30s to low 40s for western Iowa and the low to mid-40s for eastern Nebraska. Slightly warmer temperatures are expected Wednesday, with a few 50s possible across the western CWA. Expect another cool down on Thursday as surface high pressure slides in from the north. Highs will be down to the upper 20s to mid-30s across western Iowa and the 30s for eastern Nebraska. The rest of the forecast period looks dry with a gradual warming trend back into the 40s. && .AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z TUESDAY/...
