In the wake of earlier rainfall, an area of clear skies and light winds is resulting in patchy fog development across much of the piedmont and ridge and valley regions. Some of this fog may be locally dense with visibility of one quarter mile or less. Another wave of clouds and showers is approaching from the southwest, which should reduce the instances of denser fog by midnight. If traveling, be prepared for changing conditions. Slow down, increase following distance, and use low beam headlights when encountering dense fog. $$
