For marine conditions, please see the marine forecast at met.gov.bs GENERAL SITUATION: Merry Christmas Bahamas! A dry airmass embedded in a high pressure system centered across the eastern Gulf of Mexico will be the main drivers of a rather uneventful weather pattern for the Christmas Day holiday. A weak Atlantic front will drift along the eastern portion of the island chain, imparting a few possible shallow-topped showers while reinforcing seasonal temperatures as it sags southwards through tonight. Outlook: A few light, sporadic showers will remain in place through to the Boxing Day holiday, as the Atlantic front lingers just east of the area while weakening. Another front will pass to the east of the island chain on Sunday. Otherwise, the dry air mass along with high pressure will act to limit any deep convection, while temperatures remain nominal to slightly below average throughout the weekend heading into next week. The high pressure center will shift eastwards towards Bermuda, introducing a brief warming trend for Tuesday. Another cold front is anticipated to move into the northern territories by late Tuesday/early Wednesday. SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES: Rip Currents: There is a high risk of hazardous rip currents and high seas impacting Atlantic-facing shorelines. Beachgoers and swimmers are advised to refrain from entering the waters in these areas.
